ABC's of the Word--W

Pam at Grey Like Snuffie hosts ABC's of the Word each Thursday. I decided to join her last week. We're on the letter "W", and you can join in anytime you like. Yes, we're almost to the end of the alphabet, and then we're going to start all over again. With so many verses of Scripture to choose from, this could probably go on for a very, very long time. So, please be sure to visit Pam, join in if you would like. But, be sure to visit all the participants for some uplifting "W" verses today.

Before I begin, let me say that I had my "W" verse picked out last week as soon as I had posted my "V" verse. But, yesterday I received some new books in my mail. While leafing through them--just browsing--this verse literally jumped off the page!! This is one of my very favorite verses in the Bible, and last night these words just spoke to me:

The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.....Zephaniah 3:17

I know that these are small words--with and will--but they spoke powerfully to me last evening. Why? Because I found these two little words to mean "constancy" to me.

With--God is there beside us--no matter what!! He is close to us--only a prayer or cry away. He never changes in His promises, His faithfulness or His love. He is always with us!! I find great comfort and joy in this word "with". This brings me a feeling of peace knowing that God is omnipresent, always there to guide and direct me.

Will--This is based on the fact that we are God's children. He loves us and He will find His joy is us, just as we find our joy in Him. This is not based on what we do or do not do. This is based on pure, unconditional love.

He is our Father. I think of when my own children have an accomplishment achieved in their lives and how proud I am of them for attaining their goal. Our Father's joy is so much greater than ours. God is so much more joyful than we are--more than we can even grasp. Can you just imagine how joyful God is when we follow and obey His Will for us!!

His joy is so great that He cannot contain himself. He sings, He dances, He takes delight in us!!

He will quiet you with His love--What peace in knowing that whatever our circumstances, God is there. Just turn to Him, tell Him your problems, tell Him how you're feeling about whatever situation you're facing. God will quiet you with His love and His peace--the peace that surpasses all human understanding--the peace that remains with us always regardless of what pains and turmoils we're having in our lives at any given moment--the peace of God.

While the second part of this verse does not have a "W", it is the most important part. HE IS MIGHTY TO SAVE!! Jesus is our only source of salvation, our hope for eternal life. God accepts our repentance from sin no matter how many times we come to Him. Yes, HE IS MIGHTY TO SAVE!!

Abba,

Today I come to You with a thankful heart. Thank you for always walking with me, beside me. Thank you for taking delight in me even when I don't feel so delightful. Thank you for the comfort in knowing that you are with me at all times. You are there. Thank you for sustaining me with Your power, Your might to fight off the enemy's advances upon me. Quiet me with Your love today, Lord. Help me to find Your peace in every situation that I may face this day and quiet me with Your love. Thank you for paying the price for me through your own Son, Jesus Christ and allowing me to fall sometimes so that I can learn and grow in You.

In your Son's precious name,

All God's people say
.........

AMEN!!

Be sure and stop next door for "Thankful Thursday" with Sonya.

Beth

Good morning Beth, I LOVE that scripture. In fact it is part of a picture hanging on our living room wall. :He will quiet you with His love"...that part sets me pondering a lot. This is indeed who our God is...He is with us and will.....do SO MUCH.

Remembering the great delight part used to be difficult. We have been cultivating that Father/child delightful/playful part of our relationship so it is easier now to grasp that one.

Great post!

Beth,

Zephaniah 3:17 is one of my all-time favorite verses. It is one I refer to quite often. I love this idea of the ABC's of the Word! It is a great way to go through the Scriptures and discover new gems!

Have a blessed day! Sandy

I don't know what happened on my post. When I got it ready last night it looked great. When I got on this morning and it had posted a lot of it was missing. When I went in to edit I found several lines were BLOWN up bigger than I've ever seen on my blog before and the font color had gone black. I'm befuddled by blogger sometimes---crazy things happen.

Ilove your "w" words. I am most touched by "with" because I have been writing an article for our upcoming newsletter for inmates. I was praying for a way to touch their hopelessness in a locked cell. Suddenly I was consumed with my own issues at times of fears of abandonment; being utterly alone. Then....oh then, Holy Spirit whispers with compassion "I will NEVER leave you....NEVER!!!" So I will never be WITHout someone WITH ME; BESIDE ME; IN ME; LOVING ME; SHARING MY LOSSES; CELEBRATING MY VICTORIES...OH the wonder of wonderful willing Holy God Who chooses to be WITH us forever.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. . . . The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father full of grace and truth. John 1:1-5 & John 1:14.

WORD...WORD of God ...His love letter written to me.

and this is the ONE I WAS looking for WEARY...

Here is a second bible verse I really like, it really says it all.

... The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or WEARY, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the WEARY and increases the power of the WEAK. Even youths grow tired and WEARY, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on WINGS like eagles, they will run and not grow WEARY, they will WALK and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31.

My favorite verse, I read at my brother's funeral service!!!

Oh Beth, I'm so glad I came to visit. I love that verse! Can you imagine? God rejoicing over us with singing. Amen to that. I'm so thankful for His grace. BTW, I'm so glad you're participating with us on Fitness Friday. It helps to be accountable and to have some encouragement along the way.

That's the verse I've claimed as the life verse for my granddaughter Savannah (1 year old)! I love this verse!

I've seen Pam doing this for a while now, but just haven't joined in. I think I will when she starts with A all over again.

I may be back up to PA next week! My step dad is in the hospital. I'll keep you posted.
