My Day With Lindsay

I said I'd be back to today, and so I am!!

Yesterday I spent with my daughter--my youngest daughte
r, Lindsay, who is here for the holidays from Texas. She is so busy when she is visiting--going to see friends and other family members that we had to just sit down and pick a day that was "ours".

What did we do yesterday?

I awoke early (as usual!) and went to church, and s
he slept in--a much needed sleep for her. When I came home, she was ready to go, and we went out to breakfast which took us about 2 hours!! Not that the service was that bad, it just took us that long to eat, talk and catch up with each other. There were laughter and tears involved, and neither of us cared one bit that we were sitting in public with tears rolling down our cheeks.

Then, we went to the store and bought some supplies to make Hot Pepper Jelly. I don't know if you've ever had this before, but it is delicious with cream cheese and crackers. Lindsay brought some home with her from Texas last year, and we loved it.

Firefly had mentioned a recipe for this, and she was kind enough to post this on her blog. So, we had to try this yesterday.

It was simple to make, and last evening we just had to try some. Yummy!!! I'll be making some more of this next year for Christmas presents, I'm sure.

Of course, this wouldn't be complete without a picture of the finished project:

Thanks for sharing your recipe, Firefly!! It is a success!!

Then we made ham and bean soup from the left over ham from Christmas dinner to have for this evening. We spent a good amount of time in the kitchen yesterday afternoon, but we talked, laughed and enjoyed ourselves while we worked together.

Lindsay works in a restaurant in Texas while she is attending school. She has to carry hot plates from the kitchen to tables, and I had made her a round hot pad to use. Apparently, there are some people at her work who like these a lot.

So, I sat down and crocheted a few more for her to take back to her co-workers:

All I can say is that we had a wonderful time--not doing anything spectacular--just spending time together. This was a wonderful day, and we both needed this time with each other.

I'm starting something new at "The Power of Your Love" today--something I've been telling myself that I need to do for quite some time.

Stop by--maybe you'd like to join me in my quest!!

Picnic and New Powerful Suction at My House!!

It seems as though everyone is interested in the picnic I attended yesterday. I did go. I actually had to talk myself into this because I was ready to back out at the last minute.

Then, I decided I needed to get out and be with some people who feel and think the same way I do (fellow Christians!). The "devil"ed (thank you, Kathy--I didn't think of the pun there--not really intended--but a good laugh) eggs were ready. All I had to do was get myself together and get there!!

And so I did!! There were about 20 people there--a wonderful, nice group of people. I do have pictures, but I can't find my camera attach it to the computer thing (whatever the technical name is!), so we'll just have to wait for them.

I did meet a very nice gentleman there who wanted to be sure that I was going to be at the cafe on September 12 (and get this--the name of the cafe is Warm Heart Cafe!) and also the square dance on September 27. So, I guess I'll have a partner to swing after all!!

I've always felt that if God wanted me to have another man in my life, that He would send him to me. Now, I'm not saying that this is this man--but it was nice to have some male attention for a change!

It was a very wonderful time! Very relaxing and a welcoming atmosphere. Now, I can't wait for the cafe in a few weeks--music, coffee, conversation (three of my favorite things!)

When I came home, my son had lovingly gone to the store and purchased a new vacuum cleaner for me. I think he was tired of hearing me grumble about my old one. It clogged every 10 minutes or so while vacuuming, and then I had to take it all apart, put it back together, and start again.

He researched vacuum cleaners (if you knew my son, you wouldn't find this unusual at all!), and came home with a brand new Eureka for me. It's called "The Boss", and I'm so thrilled with this that I even took pictures of it!!

Poor boy--he said that if he had known that a new vacuum would have made me so happy, he would have gotten me one a long time ago!! We worked and worked last evening. I even had him take the vents of the duct-work covers and cleaned them all out!!

So, a very wonderful day all around!! This was just what I needed for a great pick-me-up!

Sorry I can't find my cord to show you the pictures. I have some nice ones of the stream that runs through the park, and of course, playground pictures, too!! As soon as I find the cord (see what comes from cleaning too much--I put this somewhere where I knew I would remember and now I can't find it!) I'll post the pictures of the picnic and my new vacuum.

I've posted all the teams involved in Dish Rag Tag. I'm in the Rag Taggers--way down the bottom--team #23. Right now, it looks like most of the teams are fairly close. This has been more fun than I thought it would be, and I'm glad I joined (are you glad you joined, Kathy?--had to convince her!!)

Now, I'm off to make Spaghetti Pie for my son. He has requested this, and I think he deserves it after treating his mom so very nicely yesterday!! There is usually too much, so I'm going to make two and take one tomorrow to someone I work with.

K--that's all for a while!!

Road Trip

Last Saturday I went on a road trip with two friends to meet another friend. We had an awesome time. Here's some pictures of our adventure:

Here's my friend driving her car. She's my best friend in all this world, but she has the worst sense of direction of anyone I know with the exception of my youngest daughter. We always get lost and have a lot of turn arounds to find our way to where we really want to be. But, we have a wonderful time together, a lot of laughs. And with us getting lost and turning around all the time, we find and discover a lot of things and places that we probably wouldn't have found otherwise.

This past Saturday, we found a place where there is duckpin bowling. I didn't think there was even duckpin bowling in PA. I've only ever heard of this in MD where I grew up. Maybe sometime we'll take another road trip and try this out. Although, I don't know--my high score in bowling is 11!! And I wonder why no one never wanted me on their team.

We finally found our other friend in Hummelstown after calling her for more explicit directions. She knows of this wonderful little yarn shop--you know I had to stop there!

This is a really nice yarn shop, nice helpful owner, and the prices were reasonable. I was looking for yarn for my SAL, and I decided on this:
As you can see, it's called Maizy. It's really soft, a deep rose color. The really awesome thing about this is that it's made with 82% corn fiber and 18% elastic--no baggy socks!!

This shop also takes items on consignment....hmmmmm.....something to think about!!

From there, we went to lunch at The Soda Jerk Diner--a really cool 50's diner--just like being back home in mom's kitchen when I was a little girl. I wanted to take a picture of the absolutely huge ice cream cone they have on top of the building, but the sun was just too bright, and I couldn't see anything at all to take the picture--maybe another time!!

Then on to Hershey to Chocolate World. I haven't been there in ages. Here are some sights from Chocolate World:

What?? Singing cows??

Lots and lots of peanut butter cups!! Took this one for my son
who loves peanut butter cups!!

So, this was my day last Saturday--a whole lot of fun with fun loving people. Sometimes I just wish days like this could never end!

K--that's all for a while!!
