MY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!

Yes, she is 26, but she will always be my baby!!

The mittens fit perfectly!! I was a little concerned about this. Cara's hands are much larger than mine, and I kept trying them on and thinking to myself--just a little longer, just a little wider. She is so happy with her mittens, as you can see.

Andrew told her that they had better fit since I woke him up at 3:30 one morning to try one one. I knew that if they fit him, they would fit her!!

Cara was so excited and happy to receive these mittens. She couldn't believe that I had finished them in time for her birthday.

We're going to go out to dinner over the weekend for her birthday. All in all, a wonderful birthday!! She and I have had our differences over the years (especially that very difficult teenage time), but today we each talked sensibly about a problem that has been going on recently in her life. And surprise--we both agreed with each other and reached a resolution.

I guess there are advantages to having your children grow up (yes, Pam--even though I'm still 22--how does that work anyway?)

And, Kathy--thanks for telling me the link didn't work!! I fixed it in case you want to look up the pattern. You knit much more than me--if I can do it--you can do it!! I know a little boy who needs some red mittens!!

Happy Birthday, Cara!

Today is my oldest daughter's 26th birthday. It's hard to believe that 26 years have gone by, with all its ups and downs.

Cara requested a pair of mittens to match the scarf and hat that I made her for Christmas. She told me this the middle of last week!

Did I finish them? Yes, I did!! Just finished the last t
humb this morning, steamed them, and I think they turned out pretty well for my first pair of mittens!!

Here's the pattern, if you're interested. I like this pattern a lot--has instructions from small children to men's--and it's easy to follow.

So, a very happy birthday to Cara!! Hopefully, they fit!! I made them a little bigger than my own hand, and they should. If I'm lucky, I'll get her to pose for a picture with her hat, scarf and mittens.

Be sure and check out my kitty tracker!! It says 7 pounds, but apparently kitty's don't do decimals!! It's actually 7.4 pounds, and that 0.4 is important!!

What I Love About the Letter "S" and more!!

I was visiting Denise, and she is playing a game with letters. It's fairly simple--all you have to do is list 10 of your favorite things. But, there is a little stipulation to this game--you have to be assigned a letter by the blogger you are playing with. So, Denise has assigned me the letter "S".

Here are my 10 favorite things that begin with the letter "S" in no particular order:

  • Jesus-- the SON of God
  • Andrew--my SON
  • SUNSETS--particularly at the beach
  • SNOW--when I can stay inside and just admire the pristine beauty of this and not have to shovel it!
  • SAND--squishing between my toes as I'm walking along the beach on the water's edge.
  • STARS--I love standing and looking at the sky on a clear evening and seeing all the stars--reminds me of God's awesome power.
  • SHORTYBEAR'S PLACE--where I can drop by and visit at any time and feel encouraged, inspired and uplifted.
  • SCOUT--my kitty who DOES NOT destroy yarn!! (Yes, I love Miles, too!!)
  • SCRIPTURE--God's Word to us and how He speaks to me through His Word.
  • I know a lot of people whose last name begins with the letter "S". These are all awesome people--you know who you are--and you are some of my favorite things, too!!
There are 10 of my favorite things that begin with with the letter "S". If you'd like to play along, let me know, and I'll give you a letter!!

Now, I have a couple of pictures that I'd like to share. Monday was my friend Linda's 60th birthday, and we had a little party for her at work.

Here she is in her birthday tiara!!

Her birthday wouldn't be complete without some presents representing her favorite football team!! Here she is wearing the poodle cuffs I made her in the Steelers' Black and Gold!!

And we should not forget one of her very favorite presents on this special day!! A miniature Steeler football helmet signed by Rocky Bleiler!!

HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY, LINDA!!

Oh, I've really got to go--I have one more CHRISTmas present to finish!! Yes, I know it's CHRISTmas Eve, but I'll finish this one last gift!

Today is My Birthday--I'm Gonna Have a Good Time!!

Yes, today is my birthday!! And before I do anything else, I want to thank every one who left "Happy Birthday" wishes for me!! This was just what I needed today!! So, a big thanks to each and every one of you for uplifting me on this day!!

I have some pictures to share of presents that I received at work. I did receive a plant with beautiful yellow flowers, but I forgot to bring that home with me. It's probably a good thing though. Miles would have either eaten it or knocked it over and ruined it digging in the soil! We all know what a good kitty MIles is!!

These are Christmas penguin socks!! I think these are really cute, and I know that I'll be wearing these to work a little closer to Christmas.

And here is a glass lighthouse suncatcher. I love lighthouses!!

This is a small bag with Eeyore on it. This will be perfect for small knitting or crocheting projects!

And these are two pictures that were taken at Assateague Island in Virginia--my very favorite place. Someone I work with went there in September, and she enlarged and framed the pictures for me.

I've also received several beautiful cards in my e-mail!! And my friend, Peggy? Guess what she has been doing since I've been home from work and is still doing? I can see the e-mail alerts as I'm typing this. And she also made me cry joyous tears this morning before I ever left for work with her "Thankful Thursday" post!

She is sending me the gift of music!! I love music--just stirs my soul!! And she is sending me some of her and my favorite songs!!

So, a happy birthday all around!!

One last note--Grammy has decided to stop The Cleaning Game. However, the task for today was to pamper yourself, and I'm still going to do that. I'm going to bed early, get a good night's sleep because I have a lot to accomplish tomorrow in a day off from work!!

Thank you to everyone for making my birthday such a happy and joyous event!!

K--that's all for a while!!
